Commercial zones

All phases have commercial zones.

One of the priciest neighbourhoods in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi is known as DHA. After 9/11, Pakistanis living abroad began remitting sizable sums of their savings to Pakistan, which led to a boom in the country’s real estate market in the early and mid-2000s. As of 2019, statistics reveal that an average 500 yards plot in DHA Islamabad is priced between ₨20-25 million. Pakistan’s leading property portal “Zameen” reported in February 2013 that property for rent and sales in Defence have performed phenomenally well.

The ambitious concept of twin cities is reflected in DHA Islamabad-Rawalpindi, which was created to be on par with the most outstanding cities in terms of infrastructure, architecture, and urban planning. To suit your needs and lifestyles, DHA offers residential, commercial, and mixed-use built communities with a wide range of modern public amenities. In addition, DHA Islamabad is a large and reliable hub for shrewd investments and businesses, providing a distinctive and comprehensive value. Those who have faith in the beauty of their dreams have a bright future. Communities & customer satisfaction are at the core of everything we do at DHA Credibility. We know what it takes to design a distinctive suburban and commercial environment with all the comforts, amenities, and classic elegance.

DHA Karachi:

The Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi formerly Pakistan Defence Officers Cooperative Housing Society, is a residential neighborhood or a housing society located within Clifton Cantonment of Karachi. The Armed Forces of Pakistan Welfare Department originally built this town as a housing community for retired military personnel, but today the vast majority of residents are civilian families. DHA is currently regarded as a Muhajir community.

Despite being a part of Karachi City, the Clifton Cantonment Board has direct control over Defence. Only the DHA organisation acts as the administrative authority.

History:

Midway through the 1950s, retired members of the armed forces founded The Defence as a cooperative housing society. Rear Admiral Haji Mohammad Siddiq Chaudhry, the first Pakistani to hold the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistani Navy, officially opened the office. It was taken over by the government in 1981 on the directives of President Gen. Zia-ul Haq, who placed it under the command of the Corps Commander Karachi. The authority was established by Presidential Order No. 7 of 1980 and afterwards endorsed by Pakistan’s National Assembly. The authority serves millions of residents and is spread out over 8,852 acres (35.82 km2). The efforts to develop DHA have been fruitful, signified by growth-oriented high-class living values. The housing projects are planned to cover every aspect of healthy living and contain parks, educational institutions and clubs. The organizational matters are attended to by Secretary, Chief Engineer, Directors and a committed workforce to ensure the smooth running of the organization.

The two bodies—the Executive Board, which is led by the Corps Commander stationed in Karachi, and the governing body, which is presided over by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense—are responsible for carrying out the authority’s duties. All administrative, executive, and financial authority is exercised by the Executive Board. The Administrator serves as the executive head and carries out all executive duties in accordance with the governing body’s policy and the executive board’s directives or decisions.

The Pakistan Defence Officers Housing Authority, Karachi, also referred to as the Defence Housing Authority, Karachi, or DHA, Karachi, is a housing development in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

The Authority was established by Presidential Order No. 7 of 1980, which the Pakistani National Assembly later endorsed. Millions of citizens receive civil facilities from the Authority, which covers 8,852 acres (35.82 km2). Growth-oriented high class living values are evidence that the efforts to create DHA have been successful. Parks, educational facilities, and clubs are all part of the housing projects’ comprehensive plans to promote healthy living. The Secretary, Chief Engineer, Directors, and a dedicated workforce attend to organizational matters to ensure the organisation runs well. Two bodies are in charge of running the Authority: the Governing Body, which is led by the Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, and the Executive Board, which is led by the Corps Commander based in Karachi. The Executive Board does all acts and things that the Authority may do or exercise in its capacity as the administrative, executive, and financial body. The Administrator is the Executive Head of the Authority and performs all executive powers, whether delegated or otherwise, in accordance with the Governing Body’s policy and the Executive Board’s directives or decisions.

Subdivisions

Phases 1 through 8 and DHA CITY, which is situated on the M-9 motorway, make up Defence’s nine subdivisions. Blocks and sectors are further separated into each phase. A central park and shopping district are also included in each phase to serve the neighbourhood. From Defence I, housing development spread east and south to what is now Defence VIII, then to DHA CITY to the north of Karachi city in District Malir. The size of a typical housing plot is between five marlas (about 1361 square feet) and two kanals (around 10890 square feet). Location: 2-B, East Street, Defence I. This building houses the Karachi Defence Housing Authority.

In recent times, there were several complaints against encroachments in phase 6 at Khayaban e seher adjacent to the commercial area. Houses were built on an area which was allocated for commercial area car parking. Residents will receive notice to leave the property by the end of 2021 after the passing of demolition orders.
